• Thursday, 3rd May, circa 14.00hrs. And so it started...the first IWAI CiC to Limerick for the Riverfest since the issues at Custom House Quay were resolved. And a double CIC at that...the Cruising Club and Lough Derg Branches of the IWAI had each scheduled a Cruise-in-Company to Limerick for the May Bank Holiday weekend! A total of fourrteen boats from the inland waterways would eventually make the trip to Limerick over the weekend! The Cruising Club CIC scheduled their entry to Limerick, via Ardnacrusha, for Friday morning whereas the Lough Derg Branch were due to arrive on Saturday morning. At least that eased the potential headache of trying to arrange to get the two fleets through Ardnacrusha in one day...whatever about the return trip!
Photo above shows Cruidin, Miss Eva and Lady Mar en-route to Killaloe on Thursday, 3rd May in time for a Skippers' Meeting scheduled for 8pm,.

• (L to R) Rita Reed (Miss Eva), Bryan 'BOD' O'Donnell and Pat O'Donnell (Cruidin)
• Len & June Fitch (Polecat)
• June being snapped...instead of doing the snapping!
• No, you probably do not know him...unless you are a resident of Killaoe...but you almost certainly know his younger brother! This is John Wood of the Wood Brothers Bistro in Killaloe. Your's truly needed a venue to host the Skippers' Meeting and John came to the rescue. John is a former student of mine ....from a few years ago!

And the younger brother...none other than Keith Wood.
• As it says above the window!
• Finisihing up at the end of the Skippers' Meeting
• John Wood with Archie Reed. Archie and Rita went back for breakfast the following morning...and met the younger of the Wood brothers!
• Friday, 4th May...circa 06.05hrs. Arthur departs Killaloe bound for Limerick...via Ardnacrusha. Photo shows (R-L and excluding the barge) Miss Eva, Polecat, Firefly.
• (L to R) Ashford Star, Cruidin - just pulling away from the jetty, and Lady Mar.
• (L to R) Firefly and Polecat. One of the organisational headaches of planning a CIC through Ardnacrusha involves the scheduling of the various boats. Several factors need to be taken into consideration not least being length of individual boats. Our fleet of nine boats would involve a schedule of four lock times at Ardnaccrusha which had been reduced from five when a single boat withdrew from the CIC at relatively short notice. A re-assignng of boats to specific lock times enabled the reductioin from five to four locks!
• Approaching the bridge at Killaloe
• Cruidin about to pass under Killaloe Bridge.
• Diane and Chrissie...guests on Arthur for the day...and welcome additional hands when transiting Ardnacrusha! Chrissie had previously done the return passage but this was a first for her on the outward leg.
