The mini-CIC to Athlone started when John & Breda Ryan ('Rapport') set off from Killaloe on Wednesday and berthed in Castle Harbour for two nights. On Thursday evening they were joined by 'Cruidin' and her crew, Bryan & Pat O'Donnell. Overnight the number of boats had doubled! Both boats came through Portumna Bridge at 09.45 on Friday morning and were joined by 'Arthur' and her crew, Paul Scannell & Mary Healy. Now we were a mini-CIC of three boats and we set-off on our merry way bound for Athlone....

  • The mini-CIC took a lunch break at Banagher and encountered Archie & Rita Reid on their boat 'Miss Eva'...They had planned to participate in the IWAI Cruising Club event in Killaloe but were put off attepting to travel across Lough Derg by the poor weather forecast.  And 'Lady Faye, with Skipper Charlie Murray (but sadly minus spouse and first-mate Anne who was unavailable for the weekend) was also present in Banagher Harbour.. And so now, as we departed Banagher, our mini-CIC had grown to FIVE boats. 'Arthur', 'Cruidin' and 'Rapport' leaving Banagher bound for Shannonbridge....
