• Looking towards the Eccles Hotel. One of the fascinating things about being moored to a buoy is the fact that every time you look out a window the landscape may have changed since the last time you looked out the same window! The gentle swinging of "Arthur" on her mooring was hardly perceptible except when you looked out the window!

I have created a separate PhotoGallery of our trip to Garinish Island which can be viewed at the following link:
We spent approx. 75 mins on the island and managed to see most of the sections. And there is a small shop and a cafe. Well worth a visit.

 • The slipway at the entrance to the Garnish Island gardens. Note that the commercial visitor boats use the right-hand side of the slipway. Visitors coming by dinghy/RIB can tie up on the other side of the slipway.

 • Planning our return passages! This is a screen-dump from Windfinder with a forecast report for Bantry Bay (although Windguru does cover Bantry Bay its report does NOT include swell/wave data whereas Windfinder does!).
Several points of interest. In contrast with Windguru, Windfinder uses the darker colours to represent the lower wind/gust speeds!

We prefer to travel in low swell and winds/gusts. In this instance we need to be able to benefit from the Monday weather for our long trip to Dingle. And so we must return to Lawrence Cove today (Sunday 29th July). Unfortunately we left it until lunch-time before we departed Glengarriff and consequently we would experience a much choppier passage (Winds @ 18kts / Gust @ 20 kts) than what we enjoyed when we travelled from Lawrence Cove to Glengarriff.

And if we do not manage to take advantage of the excellent weather conditions on Monday for our return to Dingle it looks like we could be waiting a while for another opportunity!
• Seals abound on the rocks just off Ship Island at the entrance to Glengarriff Bay. Locals told us that whereas the seals are familiar with the regular visitor boats they can be disturbed by the sound of an outboard that they do not recognise!
