We rang ahead to let Stephen at Meelick Lock know that we were on the way. This was our first trip to Banagher since last December...

  • Friday, 17th February. Circa 11am. Preparing to exit Maddens Marina. We tossed a coin between heading down L. Derg or north to Banagher. Banagher won the toss.
  • In the background can be seen the latge number of boats that are 'on the hard'!
  • And even more boats out of the water. Only a few hardened souls still in the water. And thankfully this was a wonderfully mild winter by comparison with the previous two years! No ice...anywhere... :-)
  • A naked tree...leaves they are a coming! As Spring arrives.
  • And my beloved golden reeds...

  • We were not the only ones on the water...
  • Two's company...
  • Still only one gate opening at Victoria Lock, Meelick!
  • It always helps when the crew have smiles on their faces, especially when in a lock!
  • The 'Big White Boat' at Meelick quayside... and still afloat.
  • Gosh, but she's long!
  • Listing slightly?
  • Just a couple of naked trees...
  • Oh deary me...not a happy bunch of reeeds here!
  • A very deserted Banagher Harbour.
  • Banagher Bridge...well most of it!
  • A Panorama of Banagher Bridge as viewed from Silverline jetties. Click photo to enlarge.
  • Looking northwards from Silverline... We stayed in Banagher for two nights.
  • Sunday, 19th February. And we're off on the return trip to Portumna.
