Pantou Pao in her berth at Kilrush Marina.

  • Thursday, 28th July, 2011. Kilrush Market. Every Thursday a market takes place in the town square. We bought fresh plaice, smoked salmon, fresh peas, Killshanny cheese, and pear chutney! And no, we did not mix them all together and have dinner!
  • We have a wine cellar onboard...as well as a herb garden. Yes, a herb garden with parsley, chives and basil. Could we accommodate a chicken run?

  • 'Celtic Mist' in her berth at Kilrush Marina.
  • 'Celtic Mist' ...viewed from the starboard side.
  • Not often that Arthur's Captain manages to shoot a photo of Arthur from the water!
  • Matt Ryan, Pantou Pao.
  • 'Fluffy' of Pantou Pao.
  • Salomon anchored off the public harbour at Kilrush.

  • Friday, 29th July, 2011...circa 13.00 hrs just prior to departure for Fenit. Forecast is good.... low winds and swell/wave height of approx. 1.7m.
  • We depart Kilrush and begin the descent down the estuary. It will take approx 2hrs to get to Kerry Head. As usual, the early part of the journey is very pleasant. And of course as we progress the swell/wave height increases the nearer we get to the mouth of the estuary.
  • 'Sorrento' on the estuary...at first we were not sure of her intentions. She seemed to make several crossings across the width of the estuary and then we were pleased to see her drop anchor. Note the relatively miniscule size of the pilot boat!
  • "Arthur" heading down the estuary...
  • 'Sorrento' at anchor on the Shannon Estuary. Note the size of the pilot boat! This size vessel can seem very intimidating when you see it in full flight, in particular when it is headed your way!
  • 'Pantou Pao' in pursuit...she left Kilrush approx. 30 mins after we did but was not slow to catch up with us! Nice to have the company.
