Rooskey Lock with waiting jetties on either side as you approach.

  • "Arthur" moored in Tarmonbarry... By now we had noticed that cleats at locks and bridges and WI jetties were coloured red! At least it made for instant recognition!
  • Tuesday morning, 28th June, 2011. Some boats prepare to head upstream through the 'lifting' bridge at Tarmonbarry.
  • Before we continued on our way we took a little walkabout at Tarmon Harbour...This and some other photos show the private marina with surrounding houses/apartments. Seems to be beautifully appointed.
  • Tarmon Harbour
  • Fabulous location. No lock to pass thorough if heading down to Athlone. And right beside Tarmonbarry lock if heading upstream!
  • This Way Up on a visitors jetty.
  • Circa noon we headed upstream bound for Dromod via Rooskey
  • The lifting bridge in action for "Arthur"
  • Berthing space right in front of your house!
  • En-route to Rooskey.
  • Circa 13.30 hrs.... the approach to Rooskey Lock.

  • Tom McGarry, Lock-keeper at Rooskey Lock
  • Rooskey village is only a short 5 mins from the lock with berthing space on either side of the channel.
  • We stopped in Roskey for a short lunch onboard before continuing on our journey.
  • Approachng the lifting bridge...
  • Dromod...a short hop from Rooskey.and a wonderful location for an overnight stay or longer or even just for a short break before continuing on your way. This photo shows the private marina on the right hand side of the approach to the public harbour.
  • Public harbour straight ahead...be aware of the short dog-leg entrance as you enter.
