  • Looking back on Lough Key from Arthur's finger berth.
  • "Arthur" and her captain...
  • After dinner we took a little stroll in the adjoining woods...several walkways/paths to choose from.

  • The word had spread...feeding time at "Arthur"!
  • And then the large swans muscled their way to the head of the queue. But Mary looked after all comers!
  • "Arthur" tied up at a jetty in Lough Key just before starting the return trip. We would have liked to stay longer but I had to get back to Portumna for a meeting scheduled for Friday. And therein lies another tale.... :-(<br />
<br />
We both thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Lough Key and all the locations in between. Beautiful landscape and a nice variety in cruising grounds: rivers - narrow and wide; lakes - big and small. Locks and lifting bridges. And loads of boats and nice friendly people eveywhere.<br />
<br />
We were intrigued at the number and size of the marinas that were spaced along the length of the navigation. It would be interesting to do a survey of the number of boats between Lanesboro and Lough Key. It struck us that this was an area that was highly populated with boats.<br />
<br />
We look forward to returning in the not too distant future. And this time around there will be only one lock-keeper on my list....the only lock-keeper on the Shannon Navigation that I have not met and photographed! "Arthur" is coming your way Paddy Joe...
