What a superb resource we have in the Inland Waterways of Ireland. No matter how many times I travel any particular section I never fail to be stunned by the beauty of the ever changing scenery be it due to seasonal variations or changes in weather conditions or simply the time of the day.

  • Rapport stopped off in Banagher for the night and Arthur continued on her way to Portumna. The weather was truly glorious...dead calm on the water and sun beaming down from above...
  • Still only one gate working at Victoria Lock. Stephen and his assistants had a busy weekend!
  • Wild weather...a heavy downpour of rain and hailstones befell us as we came out of the lock....and then vanished just as quickly as it arrived...strange.

  • Nearly home. It is a five hour trip for Arthur from Athlone to Portumna.<br />

A short but most enjoyable weekend. We hope to return to Lough Ree before the end of June.
