  • Travelled to Portumna with a slight hope that the ice might have melted sufficiently due to the thaw that had occurred on Wed evening and all dayThursday and Friday. Arrived in Maddens Marina late Friday afternoon. Could not see the state of the marina clearly at that time. Took this shot circa 10.45 on Saturday morning.... :-(<br /> <br /> Anny lingering hope faded quickly when I viewed the marina on Saturay morning from "Arthur's" stern....
  • Came across these two lingering at the entrance to the marina. Note that the swan in the foreground is standing on ice!

  • Looking lengthways across the marina. The pools of water which are visible in this shot had solidified by the time that we were heading back to Galway five hours after this photo was taken!
  • Solid ice...
  • "Arthur"...the DeLonghi de-humidifier cum-heater had worked well since our last visit the previous Friday. And John Madden is visiting the marina every day to check that shorepower fuse boxes have not tripped.

  • A number of owners visited the marina throughout the day.<br /> <br /> I suspect that it will be several weeks before the ice melts, and that is assuming that appropriate weather conditions facilitate a thaw!
