  • Approaching Parteen Weir from Killaloe. Note the barriers (raised in the photo), one either side of the guillotine gate. Normally the gate will be in the closed position and boaters will be required to alight at the floating jetty on their port side and enter the necessary PIN number (changes weekly .... contact Lock-keeper at Ardnacrusha for current number) in the provided keypad. Note that it takes approximately 20-25 mins for gate to be raised.
  • Ater PIN has been entered the gate will be raised automatically and the barriers will also be raised allowing boat to proceed.
  • Having passed through the gate, boaters are required to enter the appropriate PIN in the keypad attached to the wall on far side of weir gate to cause the gate to lower. Keypad is located on the wall on the starboard side as you pass through the gate and there is no floating jetty available!
  • Notice re PIN with keypad shown to right of notice and what looks like a cleat for temporary holding purposes to left of notice.
